Forest Walks
Singing Clown FACE is a THREAT! asked:

When we all know that if i were to walk into a forest full of hungry bears, i could be mauled in seconds with no natural defenses. Wouldn’t it make sense to say that at that moment in time, I was in subjection to the bear?
If there is so called subjection between 2 people/animals/w.e.. wouldn’t their have to be some kind of relationship between them?

I don’t see animals building feed lots and raising humans to eat.

I think they are just trying to give us the ok to eat them.

    It’s in Genesis.

But only put there due to man’s ego and insecurities – a deep-seated need to feel as if we are more important and somehow in control of the natural worls

    (We’re not)

And we follow our dogs around and pick up their **** with our hands.

    Who is in control again?

The bible likes to make people feel special.

This is just another way to do so, along with the ‘soul’ concept and heavenly plan and all that none sense.

    Hail Naw!

There was a perfect harmony between man and beast before Original Sin. Although, man is the most intelligent species, sin has affected all living things.

It means we should lead over animals. Use them to help us, but also at the time try to reduce their suffering. The human consciousness is at a level where it has these intense emotions such as empathy. We have tremendous power, we can either use this power as we are now and end up destroying the world or we could use it for good and push the boundaries of the human mind. The bear is going to do what is best for itself, it does not have much empathy, it brain is not developed enough yet, the bear will not control man kind. It may kill an individual under the right circumstances, but no we are not in subjection to animals. We have the most power and effect on the world around us. We kill way more animals, then animals kill humans

Because it does. Whether or not you want to take the dominion business at face value is up to you. I don’t. Remember, the Bible is a book.

    The bible’s ridiculous.
If the plants, other animals, fungi, bacteria and protista went extinct, we’d all die. We’re no more important than any other animal, or fungi, bacteria or protista. (Same with every other living thing, if it was the last thing, it’d still go extinct.)

    Sweet Suzy 777!

Gen 1:28 God blessed them and told them, “Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. Be masters over the fish and birds and all the animals.”

Humans are in control of animal populations. We are their masters.

The Bible doesn’t really say that. It suggests that dominion over the animal kingdom was given to Adam (Genesis 1:26). This dominion may have become imperfect after Adam’s fall, as man is evidently the most intelligent animal on Earth, but not in control over them all. Beware of extracting large conclusions out of small passages from Genesis. It is the implications of man’s relationship to God and how it was affected by disobedience that is the most important theme of the creation account Genesis. All things must be understood spiritually in order to appreciate the truths of the Bible.

As the “last Adam,” Jesus Christ showed his dominion over all the natural order by performing miracles like walking on water and turning water into wine. “What manner of man is this that even the wind and the waves obey him?” (Matthew 8:27).

    Yours in Christ, Nick

In the beginning, God made Adam the “boss” of everything.

This does not mean that he didnt get along with all the animals, and it seems that the animals could speak and communicate with Adam and Eve.
Eve was not startled to be speaking to the serpant, just amused that he was asking her why she would want to help God out and become just like him.

Anyway, after the first disobedience to Gods word, the animals pretty much stayed the same as they were before the fall. The serpant was the only one that was changed dramatically. The world was still vegetarian and Adam and Eve both had dramatic changes in their lives, but not the rest of the animals it seems.

The dramatic changes result after the flood of the earth. After all had disembarked from the ark, God set about telling them all the new rules. Animals would now not only be under the subjection of man, they would now also become afraid of man. Certain animals would now be food for the man.
Man would now hunt the bear, the bear would no longer come into the company of man, but would hide from man. If the bear was trapped or starving he may go after the man, but not if there were easier prey at hand. The man would be silly to corner a bear without a weapon in which to kill or subdue it. Bears much the same as other animals, do have survival instint and if they cannot run or hide, they will not roll over and die just because we are near them.

The good news is that in the end, after the trials and tribulations, we will once again be in peaceful community with the animals and the lion will lay down with the lamb and the beast of the wild will be led by a child. Even in this verse, we see that man retains authority over the animals, or the verse would read the child will be led by the beast of the wild.

In Geneses 1:28 God gave man subjection of all the animals
In a perfect paradise setting there would be no fear. But as time went on we have the terrible example of Nimrod who hunted animals and men and turned against God.
    Geneses 10:8,9
Of course now we cannot have the wild in subjection to us.
But there will be a time in the new paradise to come when this prophecy will be fulfilled again and it will be just as the garden of Eden.
Isaiah 65:25 The wolf and the lamb will feed as one and the lion will eat straw just like the bull ,and as for the serpent his food will dust, they will do no harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain Jehovah has said.
    Isaiah 11:7
    Titus 1:2

    Courage

Some years back, there were no wolves in Yellowstone. Stupid humans had hunted them to extinction in that area. Then humans argued, fought, and reintroduced the gray wolf to that area. Now… these wolves aren’t the same species exactly as what was there before (what was there before could hunt a buffalo… these have no hope of that) but, because of human involvement, something similar was put back.

My point? More than any other animal on the face of the planet humans have the ability to affect negatively or positively animals. Animals typically can only affect one, two, maybe 10 humans, before they will be killed. Animals are under us, because we can affect them all so entirely.

There’s another reason why those words are used. It has to do with a King being responsible for the welfare of his kingdom. If the subjects are treated with no respect, if they are hurt, if they are starving, the royalty is to blame. And the royalty is judged for it. In other words, we will be held accountable for any misuse we have done to them. God’s use of words like that are to indicate the relationship we have to take care of animals in the best way we can, for if we don’t we will be held accountable.

For instance, a fighting dog. It’s not the dog who will be judged as cruel and evil, but the owner. Or a cougar who hunts humans (there are some that have). It hunts humans because there is no other food for it to hunt, the land has been taken away. The cougar will not be judged as evil. The humans who don’t try and make sure that the cougar has the land necessary to hunt rabbits and deer will be.

It’s to indicate our level of responsibility to take care of the animals more than to say that the animals respect us.

    BibleChooser

    1) Why does the bible say that Animals are in subjection to me?

Because humans raise, train and use (forced labor, food, etc.) animals – yes, even bears. The reverse is not true – though some animals will, if given the opportunity, prey upon humans. Notice that, for the most part, animals are NOT subject to other animals! With a very few exceptions, animals have no more mastery over each other than predators over prey. Clearly, animals ARE subject to humans, in ways that they are to no other animals.

    2) wouldn’t their have to be some kind of relationship between them?

    There very obviously is.

    Jim,
