Forest Walks
rfl23 asked:

I was walking in the forest and found these twelve boulders in a circle with twelve wood post just on the inside of each boulder, with a wood post in the center of the circle. The name of the forest is the Mastbos, it is just to the south of Breda, Netherlands. What is this twelve stone circle?

    The Archaeology Dictionary says this…

    stone circle

A setting of upright stone pillars forming a ring whose exact ground plan many vary between being almost exactly circular through to elliptical or egg-shaped. Upon excavation such circles are often found to be the final phase in the evolution of a monument that started as a timber circle.

Stone circles are widely scatted through the western parts of the British Isles, northern France, and parts of Scandinavia. They broadly date to the later Neolithic and early Bronze Age.

Perhaps you have found an imitative circle from recent times, or one which has been recently unearthed by natural activity.
